Isles Agree To Deal With Fifth Pick

The Islanders have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with rookie center Ryan Strome. Strome was selected fifth overall by the Islanders in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. "Ryan is a dynamic playmaker who will bring tremendous skill to our young core for years to come," Islanders general manager Garth Snow said in a statement. "He played extremely well in the preseason and throughout training camp and we're happy that he has made this three-year commitment to the organization."

The Blackhawks have agreed to a one-year contract with goaltender Ray Emery. The club also assigned goaltender Alexander Salak to Rockford in the AHL on Monday.
